Here’s the quick version:
My dr’s office called Mon to say x-rays were clear. I complained about not being able to get a bone scan until July. They said “That’s ridiculous, we’ll call you back.” I was also all huffy about getting a treatment plan and asked for a referral to a sports medicine specialist, they said “Wait until we hear about the bone scan.” They called back within 20mins to tell me that the bone scan was delayed because of the isotope shortage. They wrote the referral for sport medicine guy that is associated with my dr’s office group – a doctor I’ve seen before and really like, Dr. Hall. I kind of expected all of this so that’s fine. ( I asked about seeing Dr. Duke but they’d already booked me with Dr. Hall since their booking systems are linked and I’ve got previous history w/ Dr. Hall. Thank you for the reference and I’ll pass along your good experience if I hear of other’s looking for a SM specialist)
Wednesday I get a call from St. Mary’s Hospital. “Um, we’re trying to get people in for scans before the isotope shortage gets really bad, are you available tomorrow morning at 7:45?” “You bet I am!” So bone scan (a bit of a debacle) yesterday. Results in the next couple of days. I see Dr. Hall next week and I’ll be armed with bone scan results, x-rays and possibly a really broken foot, depending on how tonight’s soccer and tomorrow’s duathlon go! :o)
