nooner – the running kind you dirty pervs

distance: 3.73km

time: 21:10

pace: 9:07/M or 5:41/km

notes: I felt pretty good but man do I sweat! it’s gross! I had a freezing shower at CLHC and I was still sweating walking out to the car afterwards. injuries felt ok. wore the saucony triumphs that the physiotherapist suggested I wear over the nikes. was supposed to do this run this morning but I stayed up too late and didn’t get my ass out of bed. instead, I got the run in at lunch. hoping to get ME and I going in p90x tonight. took my measurements (ew) and weight (triple ew) this morning.

ultimate frisbee

so I offered to sub for KT at ultimate since she pulled her butt muscle. wow… ultimate in university is SO not the same as this league! I ran! so much! I think it was a good thing since I’ve been struggling with a cold since Tuesday. sweating it out made me feel so much better.

and then, tonight I ate 1200 calories worth of ribs. smrt.

Tim Horton’s started its Roll Up the Rim contest today…
the Great Tim Horton’s Roll Up The Rim Tally – hoodie 0 : Tim Horton’s 1
good start. last year I was like 1 in 21.

this morning I made it to the gym. I did about 27 mins on the elliptical and then LM and I did arms. kind of a weak workout but it energized me. I’ll be back on wed.

on deck tonight is a 6M @ 9:45. it looks like the snow melted enough that it should be fairly clear on the roads. which is a little sad b/c ME gave me these awesome possum grippy thingies for my shoes and I haven’t had an opportunity to try them out. that said, I’m so done with winter. bring on the sunshine!

a little behind on the updates

long run in the ‘Loo area. felt ok. I thought about deep and interesting things on this run that I wanted to blog about but have since long forgotten. note to self: run more to improve memory.

short run in Las Vegas. seriously people give me a break, I ran while I was in Sin City. admittedly it’s not anywhere near the mileage I needed to get in while there but hey! I ran didn’t I??! and… I’ve been feeling miserable ever since we got back. today (thurs) it all caught up with me and my body decided to detox itself the old fashioned way. that’s enough details but know that I’ve been replacing fluids and have eaten today. pity party of one right over here.

other news – a couple items

I’ve been in a funk lately. evil lack of sun in the middle of Feb is giving me the blues. no motivation, no energy coupled with work stress and my general impatient personality is percolating into a grumpy, miserable hoodie. (again pity party… trust me, it’s a good one) so anyone got any good ideas for a pick me up that can be done under the following requirements?
1. cheap or free
2. is easy to do (read instant gratification)
3. doesn’t require a huge time commitment
I’m pretty much up for trying anything and hey, if you just want to go for a run with me I’d love that too.

so I’ve got a big dilemma. my childhood best friend, CB, is getting married this summer. her buck and doe is the night before the Ottawa Marathon, which I’ve already signed up for and have been training for. there is no way I can do both. it’s one or the other. she’s a runner too and we’re not as close as we were before university. what do I do?
I have already made my decision but I’m wondering dear readers, what would you do? what would you do in my position? leave your comments.

BLOG IDOL!!!

I don’t do enough exciting things impulsively any more. well, except maybe buy clothes and shoes and sign up for races… but nothing that’s free. to rectify that situation, I signed up for the Blog Idol contest at iRun. suprises of suprises, little hoodieruns has made the top ten! squee! so, in addition to a mini biography being published in their magazine, my head shot will also be published… in a national running magazine! so began the quest to get a good head shot.

ME and I tried to do some ourselves…

this:

and this:

were a sample of what we came up with. note flyaway hair, bad lighting and chipped nailpolish. oops.
then Claire of ClaireK. Photography saw my Facebook status and sent me a message to see if she could help. hearts to Claire! we’re meeting tonight to see if we can come up with something more polished.

in other news… I got new kicks.
remember that implusive shoe buying? well I bought Saucony ProGrid™ Triumph 5 (last year’s model) on Sunday. this purchase wasn’t entirely impulsive; I needed something to supplement my Nike’s and old Saucony’s. inaugural run is planned for tonight.

in running news… I’m lazy.
no long run this weekend. I did get some serious weight training in on Saturday though at the gym with KT. new shoes are calling me though. I want to get out there! I miss the relaxing, when my mind just wanders and cleans itself. I miss working hard and breathing hard. most of all… I MISS WARMER WEATHER!

Christmas break

Happy Christmas and Merry New Years to you and yours.
hanging out at ME’s parent’s place. I’m exhausted and was puttering along at some work stuff but have given up in favour of 3 glasses of wine.
Christmas brings such a mixture of emotions. we went and visited ME’s old neighbour who is quite elderly. seeing her circumstances and helping yet another elderly lady up off the floor (great-grandma H had a tumble on sunday night at grandma M’s) at the nursing home has got me thinking. in addition there was a snowmobile fatality up here and the fellow killed has a young family. then there are people like us, home with their families everyone is safe and sound and having a merry Christmas. it’s difficult to resolve the polarities of everyone’s situation but makes me grateful for another happy and healthy year.
as for the running – we missed a 3M and our long run of 8M on the weekend b/c of the nasty snow recently. -17oC is no cake walk so we decided to stay inside. since I’ve managed to put away 3 glasses of wine already today (lil sis, you know what I’m saying here) I don’t know whether we’ll get out for a run today or now. plus ME is out at the liquor store with the other boys.
looking forward to ME’s one Christmas present. should be a great experience for both of us.
missing Mom, Dad and lil sis. can’t wait to see you guys.
